This news got me giddy with excitement. The idea of so many books in one place makes me go into a goofy grin.

I’ll be at the Manila International Book Fair hunting for really good collections of Filipino essays; I’m looking for works by Kerima Polotan, Gilda Cordero Fernando, Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo, Nick Joaquin.  But I’d be just as glad to discover the new, young writers–just none of the self-indulgent pretentious ones who think they’re too funny.

Dear UP Press: please, please have a better display and more enticing deals than last year.
